Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders
We offer clinical support both during the acute phase, where intrusive thoughts and rituals can significantly impair daily life, and during the rehabilitation pathway, aimed at restoring functionality and personal freedom through advanced cognitive-behavioral techniques.
The condition
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders are conditions characterized by the presence of intrusive and persistent thoughts called obsessions and/or repetitive behaviors known as compulsions that the person feels compelled to perform.
These rituals and preoccupations can significantly interfere with daily activities, generating anxiety and distress. The causes are complex, with a recognized role for genetic, neurobiological, and environmental factors. For this reason, an accurate diagnosis and a specific treatment pathway always require a careful specialist assessment.
Our approach
Our approach to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is based on a detailed diagnostic assessment, aimed at identifying the specific nature of obsessions and compulsions, as well as the impact on daily life and any comorbidities. We recognize the effectiveness of evidence-based treatment, which often integrates pharmacotherapy with specific psychotherapeutic interventions, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with exposure and response prevention (ERP). The goal is to help the person reduce the intensity and frequency of symptoms, manage associated anxiety and distress, and improve overall functioning. We offer targeted support to develop new management strategies and regain control over one’s life.
